Can I share HughesNet with more than one computer ?

Yes.

Our HughesNet HN9000 modem has a standard Ethernet connection. This connection in normally connected to one computer, but this can be connected to a wireless router, switch or hub. This will allow you split and share our satellite internet connection wired or wirelessly with more than one computer, laptop, smart phone, game counsel.

 

NOTE: Installation of a router or the router itself is not included with your system. You can easily install these items yourself or discuss these options with your installer. Typical installation/setup charges are $35

Can HughesNet be combined with my DirecTV or Dish Bill ?

No, you will not be able to receive both services on the same bill. Hughes, which delivers HughesNet services, is not affiliated with the DIRECTV Group or DISH. At this time, there are no discounts for selecting both services.

Is there a per minute charge for your service ?

No. We do not charge on a per minute bases. We offer unlimited connectivity with all service plans.

Can I use Xbox live or PlayStation online with HughesNet ?

HughesNet is generally not recommended for online first person shooters games, this is because satellite is subject to latency, which can affect online play. It does work with most games, but fast pace combat or twitch games that require quick response can be affected by this delay.

Can I suspend my service for a vacation or part time home ?

We do offer a service suspension program that enables you to temporarily shut off your HughesNet service while you're away. Customers may elect to suspend their accounts for up to 6 months (such as for customers who spend winter in Florida - snowbirds) Your service term commitment and the account are suspended together and resume together. Please note that any monthly fees associated with equipment billing and optional services such as domain-based email or blogs do not stop during a seasonal suspension

Do I still need a telephone line or dial-up modem ?

No. There is no phone line or dial-up data modem required to use your HughesNet service.

Can run a small home/business network ?

Yes, you can connect multiple home computers and laptops to a single HughesNet Internet connection. Home networking equipment may be required and is not included with your HughesNet system. For network setup, support, and configuration, contact your network hardware manufacturer and/or operating system software developer (Hughes is not responsible for home network configuration or management). Please understand that all computers on this network will be sharing a single connection. Simultaneous use of high-bandwidth applications by multiple users may result in degradation of speed and is subject to the HughesNet Fair Access Policy.

Can I self-install a HughesNet Satellite System ?

Do to the fact the we transmit a signal to a satellite in orbit, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that trained professionals install any satellite system that both sends and receives signals.

I already have a Satellite TV dish, do i need a HughesNet Dish ?

Yes, the HughesNet system requires a unique dish in order to send and receive information via satellite. You cannot use your DIRECTV or DISH network dish for HughesNet high-speed Internet service
