Getting your system delivered and installed.
After you place your order, our friendly certified HughesNet installer will come out to your location. He will discuss all installation options with you. All systems sold include professional standard installation, so there won't be any surprises on the day of installation.
If for any reason you don't like the installation plan, or the cologne your installer is wearing, fell free to shake hands and part ways, as you are not charged a penny, because nothing was ever installed.
...But more likely, after you and your installer come up with a game plan for your installation, he will assembling and installing your satellite internet system. After the installation is complete he will activate your system and give you a demonstration. Our installer will also help asset you in setting up your new email account if needed.
How does the system work once installed ?
Step 1
A request for a Web page is sent from your computer
to a satellite about 22,000 miles out in space. At this
altitude, the satellite's period of rotation (24 hours)
matches the earth's, and the satellite always remains in the
same spot over the earth (geosynchronous orbit). Because
Internet via satellite is so technologically advanced, this
distance hardly makes a difference, even with rural Internet
connections.
Step 2
The satellite contacts the Hughes Network Operations
Center (NOC) which contacts the specific Website.
Step 3
The Website beams the information back along the same path to the NOC, then to the satellite, and then to your computer through your HughesNet dish and modem. Although the signal travels a great distance, there is only a fraction of a second delay during this transmission. This is similar to the delay you may have experienced when using a cell phone. In most cases, latency isn't apparent while surfing online. Once the technology is set up in your home, connecting to the Internet via satellite is simple.
